Grandaddy – Way We Won't Lyrics 8 years ago
I think the song is about the cycle of life / seasons in general .

In the first stanza, he mentioned: Cinnamon smell and holiday sales why would we ever move (Cinnamon smell and holiday sells could mean Christmas?)
But despite of the holiday cheers we are all damned at the same time.

The second stanza is about going back to school or after summer:
Tropical smells and back to school sales why would we ever move?
And we are all still damned at the same time.

The chorus mean somewhat paradoxical in essence.
That is the way we won't, we won't end up going home but we must get home.
Idk. but this is just my interpretation.
