| According to the ABBA biography, Name of the Game is about someone seeing a therapist, but deliberately written in such way as can be open to other interpretations. I think it succeeds in this very well. The best songs aren't necessarily clear in their meaning but can be taken to heart in whatever way is meaningful to the listener. Personally I think of it as someone confiding in a new friend, opening up and thus forming a deep connection and feelings of intimacy. The speaker wonders if the friend feels it too and asks "where's this headed, or what's the name of the game?" | |
