I don't know if Lemmy had some readings of Nietzsche or Schopenhauer, but the lyrics remind me of these german philosophers. The song meaning seems a bit obvious, He criticizes the church, mostly, in the name of freedom of thought, and the hipocrisy of those who use religious beliefs in their own benefit. Great song, great lyrics and awesome singing by Lemmy. His voice sounds like he ate a full package of cigars.

I'm pretty sure this is about a psychopath that kills his girlfriends (or his dates). The words "I know when you're home" indicates he stalks his victims, and "the cops won't listen all night" seems to indicate he was having sex inside of his car, at the drive in, before killing his girl. Misfits is great at creating such an atmosphere like in this song, of a ballad with smooth lyrics but they're actually talking about murder.

You have the right to dislike the song, but please name it correctly. It's Back in the Village, not Return to the Village. This song is quite difficult to play, and it's lyrics are a continuation to the song The Prisoner. I don't understand why it would be "embaressedly written".
