@[Adnuo:21376] - Martin Gore has stated that he never wrote songs about David Gahan's experience. He said that it was a coincidence that his personal thoughts and emotions actually paralleled what David was going through. Gore never had a heroine problem. While he did drink heavily his "pain" came from his relationships with his girlfriends, wife and family. |

@[klepto2000:21375] -You hit the nail right on the head. Put Enjoy The Silence and Policy of Truth (form the same album) in the same context and you can see what experience Gore was channelling when he wrote this. |

According to Tool guitarist Adam Jones the song Sober was about a friend of theirs that could only be artistic when he was loaded but he would also emotionally drain everybody around him by harping on the same crap day in and day out. |
