The Pretenders – Back On The Chain Gang Lyrics
| 7 years ago

That's a weird, strange reaction to this (great) song. You may not know that "Chain Gang" about a group of prisoners in the US forced into hard labor, was a huge hit for Sam Cooke in the 1950s. No connection whatsoever to "gang bang', which is a vile criminal act and NOT a multiple sexual encounter. I know I should be defending your right to have your say, but somehow I don't feel like it. |

Queen – Radio Ga Ga Lyrics

Even though you hated to break it to us, you're also wrong. the line "All we hear is radio ga ga" is a criticism of how in the 1980s radio stations became so commercialized and more to the point, computerized, that all the soul had gone out of it. So the songwriter (Taylor) is recalling radio's glory days, while at the same time rather wistfully predicting that some new incarnation of radio will yet surprise us. We are still waiting in 2017. |

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics

I know this is a site called Song Meanings and therefore lyrics are usually discussed, however I definitely believe the reason for "Bohemian Rhapsody"s staggering popularity is the sheer musicality of the piece. Though not often commented on at the time, Queen's vocal resources, especially the way the voices harmonize (mainly I gather due to overdubbing in the studio), led to the group's extreme popularity. The song is beloved by millions who don't even speak English. I think this song is an example of where Mercury's classical piano education came into play -the title's being a clear reference to Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody. |

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics

Not only was it impossible for Freddie Mercury to write a song about his illness (and not a single lyric to my mind refers to anyone's being ill, the fact is that (outside perhaps a very few in the scientific community, and that is only a perhaps), no one was aware of HIV/AIDS when this song was written. |

On, a person who is much more common, a call girl. Remember, "American Gigolo" was about a male whore... |

Slutty is a very nasty word and I trust you aren't referring to Debbie Harry. |

Northern Pikes – She Ain't Pretty Lyrics

I just heard this one on a Canadian radio station. I just love it, so rare that we hear a song with a sense of humour (just read the lyrics!) -can't recall anything since George Thorogood's "Get A Haircut"! |
