To me this song is about two soulmates where one of them or both refuse to truly appreciate the special bond they share in a way that could lead to, yes, more than just friendship. Because of the bond they share they are great friends. They constantly collide in a secret world, the secret world being their soul connection, and the collision being where both or one of them turn around sort of, like not being willing to face their true nature. So they instead choose to play themselves and each other for fools, suppressing/hiding the love inside themselves. So they see things that weren't there, because the truth was hidden. This is all fun and games when both are lying to themselves, and you get these friendships where everyone else asks "dude, why are you not a pair", and they themselves don't get it. It's not so fun when one believes the other a fool for not seeing what is there. And then you have these moments when both realize after a long time and ask each other "what was it we were thinking of?" |
