| Ronnie hinted to people in interviews that he may have been a Christian. I'm not sure and only God knows our heart. But from his interviews it was Clear that he believed in God. Invisible is the rapture. Last page of Revelation 22:17, the word come is said three times in this verse. When he says "the only way, to really stay, is to walk right out the door"; I think he's saying the only way NOT to kill yourself is to walk right out the door! To come you have to leave. The whole gay theory doesn't make sense bc he says"We're all 18 and we're in between", so he is using a generalization of people. "We need a helping hand to the holy land, to be Invisible! Disappear before your eyes! You never touch me, you never feel me, youll never see me again...Bc I've just become unseen!" I said when you can go away ylubknow it's right to leave here"! So he either believed in the rapture or going to be with Jesus by your own will, or maybe a mix of both. But either way; "So I bought the book and took a fast look at just the very last page, It was a single WORD that I'd just heard from the two that came before"! Not book. It's "I'll wash my mouth but still taste you". I'm pretty sure. The song is about using sex as a way to feel "something". Dirty, one night stands that many women have in their life to try and emotionally connect with someone. "I feel numb" just means what it means. The seductress in the video, deciding which man to choose from the photos, to"drain the life out of", symbolizes a woman going to a bar and picking up any guy to take her home. Basically, she 's using him but in actuality it doesn't work like that, because men and women are different. Women usually feel more shame than men after a one night stand. It's "chemically enlaced faces" I think(meaning using a drug or alcohol). She has to be drunk or high to be bold enough to go through with the act. The woman in the video takes a drink before she leaves. When she says: " Take the worst situations Make a worse situation Follow me home, pretend you Found somebody to mend you" She's admitting that she knows it means nothing but it's better than feeling "numb"or alone. "Pretend you" is just describing the physical contact as a way to connect to someone by touching and feeling, self-denial at work! Empty passion. "Black out nights and tight spaces" means actually blacking out from drinking; and tight spaces is the awkwardness of waking up next to someone you don't know and feeling overwhelmed. "We'll feel distant embraces" is touching someone just to feel someone, distant and far from meaning anything and nothing. Still numb. And the end when she puts on her normal clothes and leaves the hotel, symbolizes going back to her life as if nothing happened; wanting to forget and wash the taste of him out of her mouth! And rinse and repeat because she's trying to fill a void, but meaningless sex makes the void even more avoidable. I think this song is deeper than we think; not really a generalization of "feeling numb" and using sex as a way to feel but realising that sometimes we"Take the worst situations" and"Make a worse situation" which only worsens the pain. Feeling numb is a feeling, and it's a painful realisation of what you are, just sad. Only Christ can fulfill our voids; people let you down, we let ourselves down but Jesus and Our Father in Heaven will never let us down. This is a terribly sad song because it's absolutely right on. However, iIdon't agree that feeling numb is not an emotion. It makes you aware of your inability to connect with people and hopefully a learning processs within ourselves. There's many people who pretend to be what they are not and live shallow. It takes some kind of heart to look inside and admit to others, and be aware, of our shortcomings as uncompassionate, unloving and self-involved people. I truly hope that Daughter's meaning behind this song is sincere because it really addresses a lot of moral isssues in our society. But one can only hope! |
