| SOHN – The Wheel Lyrics | 8 years ago |

the lines in this song sound similar to some of the symbols and themes in Tuck Everlasting. the first verse is about the Tuck family in general. "i died a week ago/there's nothing left" references the lives that they lived before they drank from the spring of immortality-granting water. Miles, for example, "died" when his wife left him and took the kids. at that point, there was nothing left of his old life. "it's caught on video/the very last breath" is a statement about the very existence of the Tucks - once the spring is destroyed, they are the last and only proof that it ever even existed. the second verse describes the tree and the spring. the "avalanche" was the lightning storm that ultimately destroyed the tree, "covering all evidence." the chorus (and the very name of the song) could be compared to Angus Tuck's explanation to Winnie of how "everything's a wheel, turning and turning, never stopping" and that's why death is a necessary part of life. "all this searching for something that's not real" sounds similar to the life situation of the marionette man in the suit; he spent his whole life searching for something that, to the rest of the world, was made-up. |
