| Jose Vanders – Literature Lovers Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| This song is about how this girl tries to impress people, specifically lovers, with her intelligence, 'the books on [her] shelf' perhaps being literal or metaphorical. The fact that she hasn't read any of the books demonstrates how she is attempting to be something she isn't because she may think it will make her seem more attractive, or perhaps because she likes praise. However, the last verse is a self-reflection, exploring how this girl (ironically) doesn't want to try and understand herself, and neither does anyone else, perhaps because she knows she is fooling people for her pride. Essentially, this is about keeping secrets from yourself because you care so much what other people think. Intriguingly, the chorus evaluates how both the lovers are pretending, and the fact that the girl notices this suggests that the meaning of this song is softer and more light-hearted than the verses imply, 'hopeless two' connoting silliness rather than some kind of failure or human weakness. | |
