Actually, this song is not about the lady singing herself. There seems to be another problem. She got married and took vows, but her new husband will not share a bed with her. She is left alone on her honeymoon and she is left waiting. The song seems to be sung in that bedroom right after the marriage. So this is not just some failed romance, there must be something else going on. What I think happened here is something I have seen actually happening with another couple. there the husband was actually gay but has not come out of the closet. He marries because he either thinks he should, or hides his orientation from society. The drama is that the girl does not understand this, yet. She becomes a victim of a gay-stigmatizing society, though she is not gay herself. That is the irony of the song. It depicts in a roundabout way an aspect of the Homofobic society. |
