I feel like this song is about people just like those who talks down on them. Yes, I mean you people commenting negatively upon your freedom of type (the fucking losers)
Keep it up, because it will never mean a thing to them. They have a huge fanbase, so your opinion means nothing to them, because those who dwell on despising any kind of music is not at all likely to succeed whatsoever in a musical career, so they'll never say it to his face.
And fuck you, Scott Stapp's vocals are impeccable and you all know it. |

I always thought the same as the previous commenters, that it's about a man's relationship with God. But I had a different thought this time. I think it's about a man who wishes he didn't have to give up the innocence and wonder of his younger years. Who doesn't want to say hello to their past self, point out a right path and whatnot. It's a sacrifice because he wouldn't be where he was (in a badass Christian rock band... hard to come by) If he hadn't moved on and changed himself in order to pursue what seemed like a brighter new future.
But I always believed that when it comes to songs like this, it doesn't matter what you think it's about, because it's always right. Whether you're religious or not, it's something we all think about. It could very well be about Christ from his perspective as the writer, but he left out key words and names in hopes of getting through to more than a single audience.
