| The Weeknd – Starboy Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
It's clearly straight up about his life, he is making money , buying cars, racking up lines of cocaine with his baby, pockets weighed down with cash, solving all his problems with consumption. It's not proud or ashamed, it's just straight up "this is me, you created who I am, so now I'm a motherfucking starboy" |

| The Weeknd – Dark Times Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| Seems to be about the fast paced lifestyle of a star, partying on drugs, drinking and fighting, he doesn't feel like he should bring anyone else into his destructive life. | |

There are a lot of references to shooting heroin in this song. Obviously there is the overarching theme of self hatred but that could easily be caused by the struggle of drug addiction, and giving up on yourself (I wasn't much fun to be with anyway). Then by the end he is arguing with his addiction, which is trying to convince him that he needs it, but he ends up screaming that he'd rather die, he doesn't need it anymore. That's the level of determination it requires to kick a junk habit, so I can easily see it being in relation to junk. Just my opinion, these songs are interpretated different ways by different, that's the whole point of music, to connect with people, so sure, while he may of written it about drug addiction, if it helps you with depression or some other problem, then interpret it how ever you want. |

| Bishop Briggs – Wild Horses Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
This song has the obvious meaning of being in a demanding relationship but also has undertones of heavy drug addiction again, as with most of Bishop Briggs songs, it's either a weird coincidence, or she writes these songs like this on purpose. You hold me down in the best way No quarter from these chains that I've Slapped on my heart for a feeling Why can't I let my demons out? Heroin holds you down but feels it so good while it's doing it. She slapped the chains of addiction onto her heart for the temporary bliss the drug gives. Keep screaming into the pillow Cause your taste still gets me stupid high A taste of heroin gets her high, but she hates herself for this fact. Oh glory, I'm a believer Oh glory, I'm a trapper Wild horses, wild horses Wild horses run faster, run faster Run faster Horse is name for heroin. She is literally chasing the heroin. You call my truth in the worst way Through the dirty lens of a broken smile And I swear I'm not a pretender Sometimes it's love who's the biggest lie Love is the drug, that is the lie, that you can replace love with a drug. So, I keep on damning the devil And you keep on saying it's alright The classic story of the drug being the solution to every problem. An addict will convince themselves that what they are doing is ok. |

| Bishop Briggs – Dark Side Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
I think that, along with the obvious meaning of taking someone into a destructive relationship, this has undertones of heavy drug use Welcome to my dark side Welcome to the side of me I hide from everyone, my drug addiction. It's gonna be a long night As many drug filled nights are Welcome to my darkness, I been here a while Clouding up the sunlight, hurting for a smile I've been here a while burying my pain in addiction. Oh, I drain your life 'til there's nothing left but your blood shot eyes Oh, I take my time 'til I show you how I feel inside I'll lead you on a binge that will leave you feeling as empty as me. I can be your reckless, you can be my stake I can be your heartache, you can be my shame When you're feeling reckless, when you're feeling chained When there's nothing left but pain This is all just talking about how she can take him into this world and he can feel reckless with her, she can feel ashamed, because when you hide your addiction away it eats up at you so better to feel ashamed, and this will slowly eat away a both of them, but when there is nothing left but pain. Welcome to my dark side And now, after being dragged through hell, he can understand why she turns to these substances. The second chorus is introducing him to her Darkside again, once there is nothing left but pain, so he can finally see the cycle. Acting like I'm heartless, I do it all the time That don't mean I'm scarless, that don't mean I'm fine But you'll see, when someone else makes you this way You'll see why I am an addict, someone else made me this way and now I'm doing it to you. |

| Bishop Briggs – Dead Man's Arms Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
I think that, like most of Bishop Briggs songs, it has an obvious meaning, about religious enterprises taking advantage of people, and then the undertones of heavy drug addiction. This to me seems to be about heroin addiction. The beginning is talking about how addicts deaths are hidden away as unimportant, then the second verse is about how drugs effect people who are already downtrodden, and they take it to bury their sorrow. There's more love on a dead man's arms - The overdosed man felt more love than anyone else before dying. Maybe it is built of stone Maybe it's dark as coal Used to be a heart, I'm told But a heart needs blood to love- Talking about the different types of heroin, China White which is like a stone, black tar, dark as coal, used to fun but now it is draining me of life to gain just a little bit of the loving feeling. |

| Bishop Briggs – River Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
I feel like most of Bishop Briggs songs, this is about one 2 things, love with the undertones of heavy drug addiction. Here is my opinion How do we fall in love Harder than a bullet could hit ya How do we fall apart Faster than a hair pin trigger- Explains how easy it is to fall into addiction. Shut your mouth and run me like a river- Shut up and give me a shot Choke this blood till the veins start to shiver- preparing for injection. One last breath till the tears start to wither- Either smoking more or just intaking breath after shot. Tales of an endless heart - The lie that drugs can make you feel good forever Curses is the fool who's willing- Curses whoever gets addicted Can't change the way we are One kiss away from killing- One step away from overdose at all times. There is also the obvious meaning that this is about a destructive relationship, but as with most Bishop Briggs songs I feel like it has it's obvious meaning than the one about drugs underneath. I honestly feel like this woman is struggling with some serious drug addiction problems or maybe she has had them in the past. |

| Massive Attack – Teardrop Lyrics | 6 years ago |

I feel like this song is about the guilt associated with not being there for someone because you were caught up in a drug addiction. Thanks Here is my opinion: Elizabeth Frazer's lyrics were said (by her in an interview) to be inspired by how she felt when she got the news of her friend Jeff Buckley's death. Love love is a verb, love is a doing word - explains how she feels like she did nothing. Fearless on my breath - could explain breathing in chemicals. Shakes me makes me lighter - taking away the pain of hearing the bad news Teardrop on the fire - this is the one that sells the story for me, anyone who has ever smoked hard chemicals knows what this is, I would guess heroin because of the later lyrics but crack or meth would also look exactly like a teardrop on the fire of the lighter below. Black flowers blossom- could easily be how when burning chemicals they can turn into Black flowers inside the pipe. Teardrop on the fire, a confession- seems that she is confessing that during this dark news, she could only get high to take away the pain, nothing else. She regrets not being there for here friend but continues to do the thing that kept her away into the first place. It's an honest look into the life of an addict. |
