Styles recently said in an interview that the lyrics are spoken from the perspective of a mother who has just given birth and told her baby will be fine, but she only has five minutes to live to due to complications in pregnancy. "stop your crying baby it will be alright, they told me that the end is neat, we gotta get away from here.." the comment makes pretty sense from the above lyrics. Still, I would like to make my interpretation, which is based on the unparallel love between two lovers, who don't understand their relationship goal, neither they know if they will survive till the end of their lives. A boy is in love with her gf, but at the same time another girl comes in his life. He falls in love with her too, knowing that they will not make work out of it. Knowing that the boy is in a relationship and can not make her his the girl devotes herself in his arms. And finally a day comes when the boy has to leave the city, freeing her from every attachment, knowing it's not easy, he says "have the time of your life/ we can meet again somewhere / faraway from here/ " he leaves, as the girl knew rhat some day he will, slowly but surely... she cries , a whole night, for the time has finally come when she has to move on too. Life is very complex, and it fits in my story , which has always been full of complexity. |
