The Smiths – This Night Has Opened My Eyes Lyrics 7 years ago
I think that this song is not so much about two people getting abortion but rather a man who convinces a woman of not getting one and latter on congratulating himself, although he feels some remorse regarding the mother who "could have been a poet" or a "fool" but would be not getting the choice of being none of those two categories as she will be forced to care for her child and not him.
The woman , by taking care of the baby takes away the trouble of the man who by leaving her when discovering her pregnancy saves his life but sacrifices hers.
The man seems rather hypocrite as he makes the mother feel guilty about having an abortion "drop it on a doorstep, girl" and then not taking care of his child.
He also thinks that maybe he could have raised the child and imagines it when looking at a child on a swing, but still he didn't do anything to help the mother.
His opinion oscillates between thinking he was right "you did a good thing" about forcing the girl to keep the child or that he was wrong "you did a bad thing" as he ruined the woman's life.

Bright Eyes – Firewall Lyrics 8 years ago
I think this song is about paranoïa, but I'm not sure.
The introduction is about a conspiracy theory.

I think what he's mixing conspiracy theories with his personal doubts, to show how easily we can be influenced by conspiracy theory. As a matter of fact, most of conspiracies are made to lead you to believe that you finally understood something when the entire reasoning is in fact entirely false!

I love this song for this meaning I find in it: I think it's an important subject nowadays, where there's so much false information and so much misleading fake facts and everything. I think that everybody is very confused.

Since ever, people have tried to find answers to disasters (here WW2) and even to life! I think this song is a modern version of these interrogation, that is, mixed with useless informations or theories (like the reptilians).

I have no idea if it's relevant, but that's how I see this song!
