It seems it's popular to think all Elliott was ever thinking about was drugs and all his songs are about drugs but thats just so wrong. This song is pretty obviously about his longing for a girl he liked that left town, possibly someone elses girlfriend/friend, note the -"Things of her you left lying around"- and -"empty letter from another town"-.... And Elliott could go after her if he wanted to, he's -"Good to Go"- but he decides to play it safe -"if i wasnt such a zero"- |
