| Björk – Vertebrae By Vertebrae Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| I think this song is about releasing built up emotions and reverting back to a wild state. Becoming wild. It could be about how humans try to act as if they are separate from the animal kingdom and the song could be about re-joining with nature and following our natural instincts. Being animals. Letting out our frustration and anger. There is a very primal feel to the album which is why I think this meaning makes sense. "Release this pressure of me" could refer to the pressure humans put on eachother to be seen as civilised. Maybe we need to reconnect with nature and be primal. | |

| I feel like this song is about freewill and destiny. The idea that we aren't really in control of our actions and that our destiny is laid out in front of us but that we still have a sense of justice and want to choose to do good despite not having the choice. The line "how am I going to make it right" could be her pleading for a way to write her own destiny. Maybe she feels that her life isn't going in the direction she wants. Maybe it could also mean that she is in a difficult situation and is pleading for a way out. The second verse kind of contradicts my first point actually. Why would you throw dice if everything is predetermined? I guess it could just mean that she is trying to do everything she can to get out of her situation. Try everything until she gets the results she needs. Like rolling dice, if she rolls it constantly, she will have to get the result she wants. | |

Verse 1: Yellow represents happiness, whilst white represents purity, so it made me envision this happy, pure girl preparing herself for the disco experience. The line "the body shapes itself accordingly" is like saying that she dresses for the occasion but it could also relate to her positive attitude. She gives off good vibes. "I'm for all when I'm geometry" may refer to her shapely nature and how she will be more appealing to guys and gals because of it (shows that the sex interpretation makes sense). Verse 2: she arrives at the disco (I thought of a disco because of the feel of the song, well, it is an italo disco song, lol). Blue represents trust which shows she is confident she is safe there. Green may represent renewal, she is becoming a new person as she "spiral[s]" and forgets her troubles. The "farthest reaches of night" possibly talking about how discos often take place at night or it could be that the place is impure, as opposed to the white she was in before. But if night represents the disco, the light could represent the outside world and not necessarily purity, but I like my interpretation. Verse 3: "the dust and clouds make me glad" could mean that she is happy she had the renewing experience because it makes her feel fulfilled, as if she is getting something she wants... I guess this last verse probably hints at the sex interpretation more than mine... but songs are open for interpretation. I may be totally off. |

| Beck – Turn Away Lyrics | 8 years ago |

For example: Verse 1: "Turn away from the sound of your own voice" is like saying to someone that they should turn away from the negative feelings they're experiencing, the voice inside their head which is making them feel the lows that they do. "Calling no one, just a silence" made me think of the term "suffering in silence." The person who feels this depression goes through it alone. "Run to see you at the edge, fall of the avalanche" is like saying that they were too late, and the person let their thoughts take total control and they ended their life in the process... but the last line "turn away" shows that it hasn't yet happened and there is still some hope for this person. The avalanche didn't totally consume them. |

| @[timavers:20694] I listen to this song as Beck trying to convince someone not to commit suicide. | |
| Sara Bareilles – Islands Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| @[azneel128:20078] I always heard this song as her singing to herself. Telling herself that she needs to be her own island when something bad will happen. For example, if a relationship were to end, she needs to be her own island so she can survive on her own when the floods come, and when it's over. But I guess it could also be about feeling like you will get hurt by being too close with someone so it could be about the fear of getting close to someone. | |

| @[azneel128:20077] It's about her leaving Los Angeles after realizing it wasn't what she expected. | |

| @[brandon581:20076] I think when she says "I would start with the name", she is talking about changing the nickname "city of angels." It links with the line "those angels acted the same." | |
