This song really touches my heart because it reminds me of how I grew up. My parents separated when I was 11. I live with my mom, and my dad went off and got remarried. I went over to my dads every other weekend and it never felt like home to me, "this house don't feel like home" the other people walking in and out of the house, I just always felt uncomfortable. "Mother I know you're tired of feeling alone" My mom felt alone and started dating but stopped quickly after. "Daddy I know you're trying to fight when you feel like flying", I'm the only one of the 3 children who would be consistent with seeing my dad, so it would be easier for him to leave us and not have anything to do with our lives because he was constantly fighting with my mother about every aspect of my life. "If you love me, don't let go." I always felt unsteady and alone growing up because I was in the middle of my parents' fights and I would be the messager. I never understood why they would go through me to speak when all it did was complicate my life. "Hold on to me. Because I'm a little unsteady." |

Well all this time I thought the line "I pray to god he hears you" actually read "I payed a guy to kiss you", giving this song a whole different meaning for me. I interpreted it before actually reading the lyrics so I always thought I was about a friendship where the guy was falling in love with the girl but the girl didn't want anything to change and didn't feel anything for him, so she sat him down to talk about their feelings but the guy didn't want to because he knew he couldn't fall out of love with her, so they left on a bad note and the guy committed suicide, leading the girl to feel guilty she didn't stay with him and make him talk it out. |
