Just heard this song for the first time today and I can relate to it due to what I am going through at the moment. For me, it's a song about pulling yourself together when a romantic relationship ends, and even there is a serious issue that caused the relationship to end, it was difficult to put a stop to it and to move on. "Just stop your crying It's a sign of the times Welcome to the final show Hope you're wearing your best clothes" Stop crying because it will do no good, and the situation can't be helped. This is the end, and I hope you're doing your best to accept it and keep moving. "You can't bribe the door on your way to the sky You look pretty good down here But you ain't really good" There's nothing you can do to change the situation. When you love someone, everything about them looks good. You see the best in them. But the reality is, they really weren't good at all. "We never learn, we've been here before Why are we always stuck and running from The bullets, the bullets?" We've been through this before, but we never learn our lesson. We never let go when we should've, and instead, for whatever reason, remain stuck trying to avoid the reality and pretend everything is okay. "Bullets" here means the issues that trouble the relationship, and how you try to avoid them and pretend they're not there. "Just stop your crying It's a sign of the times We gotta get away from here We gotta get away from here" The relationship must end. "Just stop your crying It'll be alright They told me that the end is near We gotta get away from here" Stop crying because you will overcome this. "They told me the end is near." They may refer to friends/family and people outside of the relationship who can see that the relationship is no good, even though you can't see it yourself. "Just stop your crying Have the time of your life Breaking through the atmosphere And things are pretty good from here" Enjoy your life. Don't let this hinder you. Once you overcome it, you'll become stronger and everything will be just fine. "Remember, everything will be alright We can meet again somewhere Somewhere far away from here" Everything will be fine, and maybe someday we can meet again, whether as lovers or as just friends. "Somewhere far from here" I believe means the issues will hopefully be resolved in the future. Things will improve. "We don't talk enough We should open up Before it's all too much" We keep our feelings bottled in and in doing so, we drive ourselves crazy. It's good to share what your feeling in order to heal. "Will we ever learn? We've been here before It's just what we know" We've repeated the same mistakes, we never learn. It's like we don't know any better. Overall, an amazing song, that is bother bittersweet and hopeful. Even though getting over a romantic relationship is painful and difficult, no matter what, you can pull through it and mend your heart. Better things will come. |
