Not 100%, but pretty sure this song is about a girl he hung out with when he was young. They both thought she would be famous, and that James would be in the army, as he was. This bit I'm not completely sure about, and I have no evidence, but I think she committed suicide, while James actually became famous. Interesting, and definitely a coincidence worthy of a song, but sad anyway. |
