I really love this song and Snowprincess is right that it can be seen on a personal level, opening one to others. In addition to that interpretation, I have always heard it as a private spiritual journey, too. He is advising Clarice that "behind an open door...there lies a million more." It speaks to me of the many roads to spiritual enlightenment. I find a lot of comfort in the line "it's there, just hard to find"...because enlightenment IS hard (difficult)...but those who persevere will be sure to find it. The incredibly beautiful and dreamlike music certainly reinforces this notion of a spiritual enterprise. |
