The Rolling Stones – Paint It Black Lyrics 7 years ago
@[petra10467:28413] I think that line means that as the hearse drives by, people on the streets turn their heads to look at it, recognize it as it means someone died, and quickly turn their gaze away unimpressed, because just like babies being born everyday, people die everyday. It's so natural and mundane that to a stranger on the street, it's not even worth a thought.

I've been on that situation of driving behind a hearse and seeing people walk by going about their everyday life, while you feel like you are in another dimension because death, as simple as it is, it's such a strange concept to wrap your head around when it strikes someone you love.

It adds to the whole strangeness of it, that to everyone else, it's just another day, life goes on, as if nothing.

The Mamas & the Papas – California Dreamin' Lyrics 7 years ago
I think this song can be taken literally and be a song about homesickness.

But I think it might also be about longing for happier times during a rough period in one's life. Looking longingly at a the past, when perhaps things were easier. The weather representing the troubles and or animic state of the singer. Everything looks grey and brown during winter, dead and desolate, and that's how the singer feels.

The "If I didn't tell her, I could leave today" makes me wonder if perhaps is not vaguely related to rough times in a relationship. He either moved away from home to be with her, or left something behind, a lifestyle, a dream, who knows. Perhaps he is wondering if he made the wrong decision and would be better off without her.

It's a very human feeling, to long for the comfort of the past, and to wish to run away from responsibilities sometimes. And perhaps the singer is just fantasizing about being able to "break free" from the current situation he's in by going back to familiarity.

But he is bound by either some moral obligation, responsibilities, or something else
"the preacher like the cold" the moral voice in his head wants him to stay in that "cold" state he's in
"he knows I'm going to stay" and he will, at the end of the day,"California dreaming" is just his escapist fantasy during a "clear your head" kind of walk on a bad day "on such a winter's day".

Guns N' Roses – November Rain Lyrics 7 years ago
I think this is probably the greatest love song of all time to me, because it paints a very realistic, no sugar coating, adult view of love.

The song describes so well how all relationships go through tough times, and how said tough times can either make or break it. How baggage from previews relationships, or even personality traits can make it hard to work things out, but as long as the people involved are willing to face the issues and work on it, there's hope.

I think the singer's perspective is that of someone who realized this, and realized what their lover's issues are and this song is their way of trying to tell them that.

The loved one clearly has commitment issues, and might think that relaying on someone else makes them weak and they don't like that (love restrained, I know that you can love me when there's no one else to blame, Everybody needs somebody, You're not the only one)

I think that person keeps a certain distance, a defensive attitude, and is torn between their love and their instincts of self protection and fears of heartbreak, and when the relationship goes through a tough time, they retreat even more.

And the singer in turn is trying to tell them that yes, people change, nothing is certain, nothing lasts forever, love changes, but just because a relationship can't stay the same forever, it doesn't mean it has to end, it can change with them and they can make it to be whatever they want it to be.

So he is asking the other person to take some time to be alone, sort their thoughts and emotions out, admit their commitment issues and fears, and then not give up on the relationship, because just like good times don't last forever, neither do bad times, and he knows that they can make it through if they try. "So never mind the darkness, We still can find a way"

And I just love how the music accompanies all the thoughts and emotions through the song, how the song can be sad and depressing one second and turn hopeful and optimistic the other.

Ricky Martin – Private Emotion (feat. Meja) Lyrics 8 years ago
Been listening to this song for a long time and never quite knew what it meant.
I think I know now.

I think by private emotion, they mean something very personal, that makes you very vulnerable and probably, has negative connotations. Things you usually keeps to yourself, and don't share even with your partner. something like insecurities, fears, things you don't want anyone to know about yourself.

But when those feelings take over you, (It's a private emotion that fills you tonight) it creates a rift in the relationship, (silence falls between us, as the shadow steals the light) because whatever you are going through, your partner can't know if you don't say it, and they can't understand you/help you.

So the lyrics is from the perspective of someone who is in love with someone who is down for whatever reason, and is trying to make them understand that they are there for them, and to open up and share that "private emotion" that is making their soul tired and heart weak, that makes the sky seem so dark. To not think of love as a one way street, where they only have to give the best of themselves, but to open their eyes and see the other person is there for them, thick and thin (But you can find me here, till your tears run dry)

Spice Girls – Viva Forever Lyrics 8 years ago
I was just listening to it and realized the chorus could be from the perspective of a dead or dying lover, that makes the whole everlasting like the sun, I'll wait forever, make more sense.

To me the song is about moving on in a way, living your life in spite of losing the person you thought you were meant to be with, but taking consolation in the fact that every memory with them is something nothing can take away from you, it's something that is still with you and therefor that person is still with you too.

I think the moving on part is not about forgetting and leaving behind but more about peace of mind, the dreamy aspect of the song gives that feeling. The lyrics too, it talks about treasuring memories and keeping them closely guarded in your heart instead of letting them go.

From whoever's perspective the chorus is, the meaning to me is the same, it's about deciding to believe you will meet with that person again, and there's no reason to be discouraged about their absence because they are still there, and either they are waiting for you or you are waiting to meet with them again. Hence the hasta maniana (until tomorrow) it's not a goodbye, it's a "we'll meet again"

I think that's the secret safe with the singer, the fact that their experiences are eternal and that they know they will meet again. They are reassured that they can take their time to live their life since they will have eternity together.
