| Metallica – The Outlaw Torn Lyrics | 5 years ago |

This song is certainly about Cliff Burton. "And now I wait my whole lifetime for you" - means James has to wait until he dies before he can be reunited with Cliff in Heaven. "I ride the dirt, I ride the tide for you I search the outside, search inside for you" - James has traveled and toured the world but still cannot fill that void left by Cliff's death. "The more I search, the more my need for you The more I bless, the more I bleed for you" - Every time he tries to move on, the pain of Cliff's loss gets worse. You make me smash the clock and feel" I’d rather die behind the wheel Time was never on my side So on I wait my whole lifetime" - It's said that James punched and broke a clock when he first realized Cliff had died. Cliff was technically not behind the wheel, but "behind the wheel" can mean car accident, which is how Cliff died. |

I've listened to this song so many damn times. It was reportedly written in broken English and coupled with the bad accent, it's nearly impossible to decipher accurately. I've tried, and this is what I think it may be: (something) the back of the marching maggots, where it started We're always looking after something, a story to tell When we know nothing about it It's already started (Sounds like "the terrible stoneface") But we're oblivious It's still so obvious To those (alone? alert?) What're you gonna hear inside (something) give you peace in head The only (Something) afraid is insanity It's already started (Sounds like "the terrible stoneface") But you're oblivious I still don't want to live For very long (something) greed (something): terror fucking lies Stick your head out for your life: everybody dies I suppose it could be about government corruption or something |

| It's been suggested that at least one song from this album is about Tom Araya's bitch of a wife...maybe this is the song? | |
| Metallica – Hardwired Lyrics | 8 years ago |

I'm too lazy to interpret a deeper meaning, but the song is definitely about humanity in a nutshell. We're never going to learn of our flawed was and in the end it will be our own doings that destroy the planet and ourselves. Not sure if it has anything to do with Trump vs Clinton 2016, but the comparisons make sense. |

| Metallica – Hero of the Day Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| I think these are Metallica's best lyrics. Everyone shits all over Load for "selling out" but this album had the best lyrics in Metallica's entire career; poetic, meaningful, beautiful, even haunting in certain songs. Tracks like "Aint My Bitch" and "Ronnie" are exceptions, but the rest of the album mostly contains amazing lyricsmanship. | |

| Some douche was downvoting every comment on here, had to fix it. Not sure if was a Bathory hater or what... | |
| Primus – Here Come The Bastards Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| This song is about the band themselves, being told from someone else's point of view. Like "hey, here comes Primus, better look out!" I see it as kind of an entrance or walk on song, like something that would play as a set intro; a warning for what's about to come. Here they come! | |

| the earth is, like, just a giant caravan going in a circle, and, like, we're just all in for the ride man | |
| Slayer – Gemini Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| @[metalstorm:19565] Yes, this is what the song is about. "Gemini" references the Gemini Killer from the movie, and a few lines are from the movie, such as "numbing of your moral sense" and "I am here for the sole purpose of death" | |
| Disturbed – Indestructible Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| The song was written specifically for the troops of the United States Armed Forces. Disturbed actually became the official band of the US military around this time, and wrote the entire album dedicated to US soldiers. | |
| Cynic – Celestial Voyage Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| The song is about learning and gaining knowledge and acceptance, growing from negative experiences and using them to be a better person on your journey through life. | |
| Death – Crystal Mountain Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| According to Chuck, the song is written for his ignorant neighbors who would call the cops during band practice sessions, and would then lie to the cops about how Chuck was causing trouble around the neighborhood. I'm guessing they were devout Christians judging by the lyrical themes of the song, but I cant find anything that says that. | |
| Death – Lack Of Comprehension Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
The song is about ignorant people shaming the entire genre of metal because of their preconceived bias opinions; mostly that, despite metal being a fairly intelligent and progressive genre, most think metal is nothing but loud satanic gibberish. At the same time, 99% of the people who say these things about metal have never actually listened to metal and will never educate themselves on the subject. I know the feeling very well. I once dated a girl who was extremely intelligent and progressive, but absolutely detested all forms of metal because all of it was "satanic emo garbage" in her eyes. Of course, she had never listened to any metal, and was just basing her hatred off of generic stereotypes. Her being a very smart person (who ended up going to Harvard), I thought I could show her how symbolic and meaningful some metal could be and maybe she'd learn and understand, but NO, instead she immediately shot down any attempt without a good reason. Metallica, Black Sabbath, Tool, Cynic, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, and Death were all the same. She finally pulled me aside and said, in an extremely serious tone, "there's nothing you'll ever do to convince me that metal is more than just Satanic screamo" and things just fell apart. Not because she didn't like my musical tastes (my current girlfriend hates metal too), but because she refused to educate herself on this and went her life hating something 100% based off of cliche, biased stereotypes (among other more serious reasons). I thought it was extremely hypocritical that she spent day and night advocating gay rights, minority rights, and defending other things that are constantly under fire from stereotypes and biased hatred, but when it came to a genre of music, she formed a biased and cliche opinion on something she knew nothing about, just like the racists and homophobes she fought against use. "Metal is satanic" "metal is just screaming nonsense" "metal takes no talent" when 90% of the time, especially with an amazing band like Death, all those "complaints" are completely inaccurate. |
