This song is NOT about MDMA. Why so sure? When this came out, nobody called it "Molly". MDMA was known as "ecstasy". There was barely even an electronic scene, it was pretty underground. The idea with passing it off (liar) Does* actually make sense. Its not like people selling rolls back then even knew what was in them. Was just "double stacked mitsubishi" or whatever. I can also understand interpreting the "she went to the bathroom and would never come outside" in a drug-related way. Jimmy Urine would smoke crack at his shows, maybe she was basically doing the same thing. But i just dont think its about what "the kids know these days as 'Molly'". To be extra clear the term did exist and i heard it rarely, mostly in the UK, but i think they called it "Mandy". |
