Hot dreams themselves could be taken as sexual or deviant but in this instance, I almost take these lyrics literally imagining the stalker to literally wake drenched in sweat excited to be fantasizing about his soon to be victim. I wanna rise, I wanna rise I wanna rise up beside you - Could be literal of him appearing next to her or could be more fantasy of him with her. I want to be, I want to be I want to be a champion in your eyes - Pure delusion at this point. He put's this woman on a pedestal and is attempting to be her champion, her man, even though there is nothing there to admit that. And I wanna follow through, follow through On all my promises and threats to you babe - Kind of blatant. His letters have probably had threats of killing her or raping her probably worded well and he wants to make good on those... "promises and threats". Almost conjectural, he's confronted with knowing that these "hot dreams" are not real though his actions are. |
