X-perience – Magic Fields Lyrics 5 years ago
This is a rare example of a very uplifting and positive song. Best played at the height of summer, it is about the phenomenon of crop circles. (In German folklore, crop circles in English or Fairy Forts in Gaelic are known as 'Magic Fields'.) Really lovely and life-affirming melody and lyrics sung by Claudia Uhle.

The Verve – The Rolling People Lyrics 8 years ago
Heaven help us, twelve interpretations and all wide of the mark. Suffice to say, the third stanza should read as follows:

I'm on a big jet plane
With my briefcase and crime in my veins
I'll be the first to toast
To my ROTTEN soul

This song is not a glorification of that appalling way of life, quite the opposite in fact. Good night and God bless.

Sparks – When Do I Get to Sing "My Way" Lyrics 8 years ago
A wonderfully underrated piece, the first verses relate the nihilism of celebrity and modern life in general, the soi distant dismissiveness and contradictory signals of the guarded in crowd: "They will just say, "who are you?"" "And though I say, yes I see, no I really don't see." But what are the in crowd guarding against? What are they protecting? We assume there must be great rewards for sticking it out, for selling your soul "But I have no souvenirs of these crackerjack years Not a moment I could choose." So after all, you sell your soul,"you're still stunned at the things you will do", and if you're lucky you get to sing, "my way" but even then, "my way" may very well lead you down to hell, perhaps like Sinatra.
