| Concrete Blonde – The Sky Is a Poisonous Garden Lyrics | 8 years ago |

This song is about beating addiction. Eleanor is the drug: "...I can feel from this side of the door, I can feel Eleanor" Addiction is often a cycle where one fix is justified by the one before: "...He said don't bring tomorrow to justify tonight..." Addiction can occupy a person's thoughts, to the point of obsession: "Eleanor trembles. Eleanor moans. Somehow, this body is someone she always has known..." But in the end, he beats the addiction: "She said please don't go. Please don't go! And she cried and she died in his arms and he cried nevermore." I think the tag line in the title and chorus is simply about being high: "The moon is full, the stars are bright and the sky is a poisonous garden tonight." |
