I suppose those lyrics are pretty straightforward and SymphonicMetalAndGothon got it quite right. I don't think it's about stalkering. The key line is "Don't say you're happy out there without me": he wants to think that she's only happy when she is with him. It's some kind of egoistic love, which is not love actually. He's obsessed with her and wants her to be obsessed with him, though she seemingly doesn't care about it all... possibly she doesn't even know him well enough! This is rather depressing song and in my opinion it perfectly fits with a funny yet also sullen video with Dave Gahan still looking ill after his drug addiction and suicide attempts. If you feel this song resonates with you, then you should know you're fucked up - just like me at the moment :) |
