The song is all about Heroin addiction. It could be any addiction. But when he said "Scratchin' to stay alive" He was talking about his own personal problems with heroin. I kept the right ones out = people trying to help him stop And let the wrong ones in = Other drug addicts When I lost my grip And I hit the floor = hitting bottom Yeah, I thought I could leave, but couldn't get out the door = not easy to get out of that life style and stop using. Life's a journey, not a destination = popular NA / AA phrase. basically the whole song is about getting clean = off drugs |
