The Smashing Pumpkins – Inkless Lyrics 8 years ago
Everybody is open to their own interpretation. However, shortly before this record was released, Billy Corgan stated in an interview that he was now going to sing about God. Although at first listen it isnt clear, but this song is actually about God. It isnt a cliche like most christian songs u would hear on the radio fortunately. The song has to do with Corgans personal feelings with God as the subject matter. "Inkless" is to describe something that is indeed there but cannot be seen... referring to God, he cant be see but he is there. Plus, later in the song Corgan cries "A faith in love unseen." This is referring to God in that God is love, and as a believer he has faith in God even though God is intangible. "The stars are out tonight" relates to what we can look at even tho we cannot see God. We can still look upon his wonderful creation. The rest of the song is too poetic and hard for me to understand but it is personal to Billy Corgan. Enjoy listening to the song now with the songs innevitable meaning. Btw, this is not a "love song" or "break up" song as many are calling it.
