This song gets me every single time. The simple notes, the deep but clear words not forgetting the very simple male vocal. This song is one of the few that everyone love even if its very simple: no high notes, no complicated words, and easy instruments. I think that the simplicity of the song says it all: it's the pain that everyone will eventually would have to go through in life. thats why its so simple and easy but still makes you cry, cz the experience is normal but will alwaye be a very sad moment. |

This song is my favorite song but i see it in a different way... i like to view it as a song where someone was very pure and innocent as a child but as an adult has seen how cruel the world actually is and now is in pain because of that. So she's singing about her innocence in her younger years. "I'm so tired of being here" she's sick of being in the cruel world she lives in "Suppressed by all my childish fears" she wants to stop thinking like a kid so she can feel normal and happy in her life "And if you have to leave i wish that you would just leave cz ur presence still lingers here and it won't leavs me alone" she's talking to her childhood's innocence "These wounds won't seem to heal this pain is just too real there's just too much that time cannot erase" she's in pain bcz of the present she's living in The chorus talks about how she'd take care of her youger self if she was with her and how she claims at the end that even though she's hurt bcz she's innocent and nice she can't help being nice "but you still have all of me". "You used to captivate me by your resonating light" she's talking about her happiness as a child "now i'm bound by the life you've left behind" her happiness left her as she grew up "your face it hunts my once pleasant dream" she still dreams about being happy "you voice has chaised away all the sanity in me" laughter (your voice) reminds her how happy she was so she now feels pain bcz she misses how it feels to be happy. "I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone but though you're still with me" she tries to convince herself that she's not the pathetic nice girl she used to be but though she is. "I've been alone all along" she's now sad and lonely bcz she's still nice pure and innocent. |

I just listened to it and i loved it and i have two point of views: 1- it's about someone who wants to know the truth behind death and what comes after and then the chorus talks about suicide and "flying above you" is a metaphor for jumping from a tall building and "bring me back down to earth" and the second chorus describes the fact that no one is letting him jump however in the second verse it's obvious he's claming that he's now free. 2- its about feeling free to think creatively: the first verse talks about how interested the person is in everything and wants to know about the world. He then says "flying above you" where he claims that his imagination goes beyond others "dream about dying to find the truth" he's wants to have the knowledge even if he has to die "it feels like you're trying tobring me back down to earth" a lot of people aren't letting him interpret his thaughts in a creative way so they pull him back to earth and reality. In the second verse he claims that now something have changed (maybe he grew up or maybe it's about the huge progress in science and technology) but now he can be free about expressing his thurst for knowledge and his love of imagination. |
