Sammy Johns – Chevy Van Lyrics 11 months ago
Songs like this went over my head as a kid. "We made love in my chevy van"...I just thought it meant they were kissing. My dad had a Chevy Van, but it was strictly for family outings, not starting new families!

Rod Stewart – Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright) Lyrics 11 months ago
My best friend as a kid loved this song - he thought of himself as a "stud" that was gonna score with "the hot girl".

Johnny Bristol – Love Me for a Reason Lyrics 1 year ago
I had a Hit Parader magazine with much more risque lyrics for this song. Obviously, the Osmonds had it cleaned up a lot!

Billy Preston – that's the way god planned it Lyrics 3 years ago
The line "love is the way" is actually "low is the way", as in "low is the way, humble is the way". Don't seek glory for yourself; seek to glorify God.

George Harrison – Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) Lyrics 3 years ago
A beautiful prayer. We need more songs like this in our material world.

George Harrison – My Sweet Lord Lyrics 3 years ago
Some bands were out to prove that rock and roll music really was from the devil - the Rolling Stones, Van Halen, AC/DC, Grateful Dead. Thankfully not everyone went down that road. This song is a simple prayer, not a lot of words, but you don't need a lot of words when you are talking to God. He knows what's in your heart, he knows your needs, even before you ask. It's a beautifully spiritual song. Billy Preston did a great version, too.

What a bunch of crud this is! Don't be friends with the devil, he won't help you at all. He will make promises that he won't keep, he's a liar and a thief.

AC/DC – Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be Lyrics 3 years ago
Why does AC/DC have so many songs about hell? Do they really think it's a groovy world down there?

AC/DC – Highway To Hell Lyrics 3 years ago
AC/DC sure made a career out of singing about hell. I suppose it's like that Billy Joel song: "They say there's a heaven for those who will wait, some say it's better but I say it ain't, I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, sinners are much more fun"...yeah, that's what it's like in hell, just a bunch of boozing it up and fucking around with women. Yeah, right. If only.

Van Halen – Runnin' With The Devil Lyrics 3 years ago
If you just reading the lyrics, it seems like a lament, like "look at me and the meaningless, wasted life I am living". Combined with the music, though, it sounds more like a celebration of the hedonistic lifestyle. I've never seen any indication that Van Halen were Satanists; but of course, that's the game the devil plays - get people to not take him seriously, and just screw around with your life, no consequences.

The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil Lyrics 3 years ago
People had been calling rock and roll "devil's music" since the 50's, so of course the Rolling Stones had to record a song called "Sympathy for the Devil". People think it's a joke to fool around with all this devil stuff, but (as an old country duo warned us) Satan is real. He wants you to think you can mess around with all this dimestore satanism and not suffer; he wants you to think there is no afterlife, no eternal reward or punishment; he wants you to think there's nothing better than to pile up riches on earth, ignore the suffering of others, destroy the planet, destroy your body with intoxicants, treat life as just one big party. Of course the song is anti-God.

Johnny Bristol – Hang on in There Baby Lyrics 3 years ago
The lyrics slipped right by me as a kid, then I heard it recently...boy, this was risque stuff. Yeah, she's a virgin, so probably underage, and it's pretty clear he is singing about the moment they "come together". I gotta wash my brain out after hearing this junk!

The Who – Bargain Lyrics 8 years ago
@[wildmonkeys77:18662] you are exactly correct. It's a deeply spiritual song - and much more powerful than what passes for religious music these days. If Christian rock or pop songs were this nakedly honest, ...well, the singers would get tossed out of the church for being naked! lol
