In our culture we say "God's Speed" as a blessing to someone going on a journey. So another way to say "God speed your love to me" is to say "may your love to me come quickly as the speed of God" 2. "Time can do so much" refers to how so much can change as time passes. Time can heal. Time can hurt. Time can bring people together or bring people apart. Time is being personified here to show those things. |

This song is one of the most romantic songs to slow-dance to. The beat is so slow, with each word drawn out like a beautiful lullabye. It really makes you go slow and savor dancing with someone special. While it's a love song, I have a hard time getting through it without tearing up! The lyrics are romantic and illustrate that deep, never-ending kind of love...but there's also a sadness to it. The part about the river flowing to the sea makes me think of death....like the river eventually meets the great ocean, so do we flow forward to our eventual return to something bigger than us. It makes me think he has passed and is telling his love to wait, until we meet again. One of the only songs that makes me so sad and happy at the same time! |
