Pinback – Loro Lyrics 8 years ago
@[king1793:23535] I think you may be onto something with your interpretation. I think that it may not be referring to Cannabis, per say, but I do agree that it seems to resonate loneliness heavily. The desire to unsee the things we’ve seen, or take back all the difficult times that have put us where we are now, even when that’s not a possibility. The “others,” everything just seems to flow so easily without any sort of troubles blocking the way.

@[yamale:23534] this may very well be the only interpretation that makes sense. Yes, there is a shallow surface idea that the song is about a fish, obviously, but on a much deeper level it’s about loss and the lack of understanding in the world that comes with it. I lost my sister this year, and all I hear when I listen to this song is the deep yearning to take the pain that I watched her endure for so long and give her back everything that was taken from her. Such an incredible song, Pinback is always leaving me with a new look on life.

Brand New – Waste Lyrics 8 years ago
I love the comments I’ve seen so far on what people feel this song is about, but I had a slightly different take. Hear me out.

I feel like Jesse might be talking about his life with Brand New.

“If it’s breaking your heart, if nothing is fun
don’t lose hope, my son, this is the last one”
- I almost get the idea that this is about constantly writing music and having to pick himself apart in order to add depth and truth to what he’s singing. They’ve written so many albums and spent so much time on the road, constantly touring, putting his feelings out for everyone to know, but do they ever really know him? There has been a lot of talk about this being their final album, and who knows, maybe this is a final goodbye.

Having to put everything on the line every night has to get so tiring.

“Every night you were tripping out,
In the morning you were coming down.”
- to me this describes the emotional exhaustion that comes with having to be this person for everyone to look at, giving the crowds what they came to see, and then the next morning always feeling so foggy

Just my two cents
