The official website of the lyricist, Bernie Taupin, states that the lyrics are "peace of mind my daddy never had" (not "piece of mama, daddy never had", as displayed above). Also, the correct lyrics are written on the sleeve of the released vinyl single, which can be viewed here ( https://www.amazon.com/Philadelphia-Freedom-Elton-John-Band/dp/B000LZ1CQU ). I submitted the lyrics correction on this site over a week ago, apparently it has not been approved. |
