A song about a drug addict told with realism and a touch of sympathy. This song is a gut punch and a clear demonstration of the author's amazing talent at songwriting. |

I love this song and it is so Texas/Oklahoma that it hurts. I first heard the Ray Wylie version and after listening to each of them many times I prefer Ray Wylie's as his band's music reflects the content of the song better IMHO. But few can write songs like this and McMurtry is one of the few. |

| King Crimson – I Talk To The Wind Lyrics

There are some interesting perspectives on the meaning of this song here. My take is somewhat simpler.
I think the protagonist of the song is talking about a friend. He is just realizing, sadly, that this friend has nothing to offer him. No insights, no direction, no help or stimulation of any kind. Not even the courtesy of showing up on time. He is realizing that this relationship is pointless. |

@[koolkitties:28695] It is. The lyrics are "I'm a lengthy monologue, I'm livin' like a dog". Most of the lyrics on the net are riddled with errors. |

| Ween – The Stallion Pt. 3 Lyrics

Well there are some good comments but I just wanted to add mine. My "interpretation" of the song is that it is a white version of a rap song. Complete with toasting. The words are full of bragadoccio, like most rap done by black artists, but with a decidedly white, geeky slant. And near the end, it really sounds to me like he is saying "screaming black words in the sand", not the backwards everyone else hears.
I fully acknowledge that we all hear what we want to hear and only the artist knows what intent he had, if any :) |

| Yes – Going for the One Lyrics

My goodness, this Yes song is probably the most straightforward lyrically they ever did!
"The One" is a romantic partner. The song is from the male point of view. The sports metaphors are Jon's way of saying that chasing "the One" is not much different than trying to win a physical game/sport, because if you understand evolutionary biology you realize it's really not.
And the "couplets" are all about the physical act of lovemaking, "tender timing, rocking rolling, to touch to move", and their spiritual importance "turnstile to one", "touching touch time".
Stop overthinking, this song is simple. |

| Yes – Sound Chaser Lyrics

This over the top song is perhaps my favorite Yes tune.
I believe, understanding that only the artist really understands what a song is about, that this song is about the mystical power of physical lovemaking. "true fruition" - procreation. "Lost in trance of dances, as rhythm takes another turn" - self explanatory. "Cha cha cha", the horizontal dance itself.
Anderson's lyrics use sound as a similar metaphor in Roundabout also. |
