I’m pretty sure Adam Ant was raised in a “Ford Family” and this song was a subtle slam on his Chevy - El Camino loving friends. |

My favorite Clash song. I always thought one (Mick or Joe) was asked to provide a song for something and wrote this song and nothing ever came from it. I always dug the chime like sound in the beginning and end which I’m almost positively sure that’s Mick strumming BEHIND the bridge on a Gibson Les Paul. When I started playing I had a cheap les paul replica that I never learned to play too well but I could do those chimes. |

Actually what I like most of the song is the fact that it seemed like Mick Jones was going to add something vocals/lyrics be damned. His vocal additions make this song.
I know this site is song meanings but that side of the song always amused me. |

@[alk3machine:18333] I agree totally. Actually when I hear the actual song I long for the ubiquitous marching band mixed into the song like it was in the movie. Sounds way cooler.
But as the words go I feel the song was a sad song about dope and regrets. The way they wedges the line about sleeping and spoon and being pale. Just seems a bit obvious. Best line of the song. |

| Squeeze – Up The Junction Lyrics

It's way better to turn it into a medley and change the last two lines to:
And so it's my assumption
I'm on conjunction junction
And proceed to that awesome School House rocks song. If Squeeze had School House Rocks in England they probably would have. I can't listen to that song without thinking of the other. I even edited them into my own personal medley on my phone. |
