Nickelback – Old Enough Lyrics 8 years ago
@[Sobek:18226] It's possible they are some of the deepest lyrics I've read, based on my own interpretation. I do not know if he has ever given an explanation for the song.

I thought it could be about date rape. This gets al little dark but the "Old Enough" comment references just a young girl just being of age, "knows enough" would be him relieving himself of guilt and the person he is asking to "throw her out" to him. The "I can't eat, I can't sleep" if a reference to him not being able to live with what he's done, "Thank you for coming, why do we always laugh in this discussion?" could imply him and the friend who helped him are awkward around each other now, or he thinks it's fucked up that they actually laugh when they speak of it. "Black words lead to something" I think is a reference to the first lines of the song, followed immediately by "bury her cause her time was cut thin, all the while you just stood and stared" perhaps his friend watched as it went too far and he killed her so he says "we just got carried away". The "dreams have started to die" section and the "things that keep me alive" are just a reference to his cold numb outlook afterwards, and the rest of the lyrics not mentioned are just expressions of his guilt.
