The Tallest Man on Earth – The Drying of the Lawns Lyrics 8 years ago
I think the transcription of the third line is wrong. I think it should be:
"Things that you have seen this night are in spite of the river's flow" - It makes more sense, both in terms of meaning and grammar. Grammatically, "Things" doesn't agree with "runs". The meaning here is then more along the lines of, "time has passed while you've dreamed and things are different now." This also makes sense when paired with "I'm a-growin' old."
I also think the chorus should have "It’s just the drying of the lawns SOME WANT to leave out there" for the first three times it's sung. This is how it sounds and it also makes sense - "SHE" is saying it the first three times, HE says it the last time.
I'm also not sure what to do with "And I’ve drifted on the waves..." It sounds like it should end "...in the _______." Mirage beneath doesn't sound right.
It should also be "As when I set my eyes on torched up lands of the mark of you"
and "She said you follow me like sheep that think this cane could do some harm"
It also sounds like "It will never rain and our last dream will de______ this house"
