@[DaChosen0ne:17766] In early 64 the big issue was increasing the military draft and Johnson's escalation of the Vietnam war following Kennedy's assassination. At least that is what we believed back then. BTW I was a Jr. in HS then. |

You need to remember that in early 1964 when Bob wrote this song President Kennedy, who was beginning to reduce US troop numbers in Vietnam, had just been assassinated and President Johnson was doubling down on that war and increasing the draft numbers which really energized the anti-war movement. Seeing all those millions of young passionate demonstrators obviously inspired the young Mr. Zimmerman. I remember those days very well. |
