now ik theres a lot of different theories on what this song is abt, and theyre great, but have yall considered this as a possible lesbian narrative? "you are my sweetest downfall" is the disapproval they were faced with when the relationship was found out. "the history books forgot about us/and the bible didnt mention us/not even once" is how wlw are constantly erased from history and excluded in almost all forms of media. the speaker cutting "samson's" hair meaning that samson entrusted the speaker to help "samson" embrace her butch identity(and the "youre hair was long when we first met" line being about how when they first met "samson" had not yet been open abt her butch identity) "we couldn't bring the columns down/yeah we couldnt destroy a single one", ultimately, the constant disgust and disapproval from their peers drove them apart, but they dont regret a thing, which is why the song ends with the repetition of "you are my sweetest downfall/i loved you first" is this what the intended meaning of the song was? most likely not. is this how im going to forever and always perceive this song? you better believe it. |

ill just ignore the obvious hints at 2005 and dive into the meaning of this i think overall its someone still trying to hold onto a past relationship. trying to reconcile with the past. you keep trying to find something from it to hold onto, but while its keeping you alive, its also driving you crazy then youre slowly coming to terms, both you and the person finding closure with what happened, but you just try and make one last ditch effort to make things better, but you know that you cant go back to what you both once had. |

| Lauren Aquilina – Sinners Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| One of my favorite songs! To be honest, I believe this song is about a gay couple. Most notably the lyric "the world may disapprove", typically songs with a Romeo and Juliet theme just mention family. Since being gay is considered a sin in a lot of religions, that also adds to my theory. | |

Lyric analysis time! I did my best to notice When the call came down the line Up to the platform of surrender I was broad but I was kind And sometimes I get nervous When I see an open door Close your eyes Clear your heart Cut the cord (Someone trying to live life just getting by, following the rules of society. Getting nervous when they see an opportunity to live their differently. Then finally deciding to let go of living by societal demands.) Are we human? Or are we dancer? My sign is vital My hands are cold And I'm on my knees Looking for the answer Are we human? Or are we dancer? (Dancer means another puppet of the higher ups. The person is looking for an answer as to what they need to do.) Pay my respects to grace and virtue Send my condolences to good Give my regards to soul and romance They always did the best they could And so long to devotion You taught me everything I know Wave goodbye Wish me well You got to let me go (This is them letting go of what they deem to be holding them back from being truly human. They're telling someone not to hold them back from letting go.) Will your system be alright When you dream of home tonight? There is no message we're receiving Let me know is your heart still beating? (They're wondering if someone they care about is alright, wondering if they're okay with being a "dancer".) This is probably one of the most relatable songs of theirs, trying to find your place in the world, trying to break free from meaningless rules, trying to be your own person. |

| The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 9 years ago |

Let's analyze the lyrics, shall we? Coming out of my cage And I've been doing just fine Gotta gotta be down Because I want it all (This could be him deciding to finally step out into the world, or go after the person who he wants) It started out with a kiss How did it end up like this It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss (This could be him wondering how he got into the situation he's in. He kissed someone and now things have somehow lead up to this) Now I'm falling asleep And she's calling a cab While he's having a smoke And she's taking a drag Now they're going to bed And my stomach is sick And it's all in my head But she's touching his chest Now, he takes off her dress Now, letting me go I just can't look its killing me And taking control (This could either be him being paranoid, or his new partner is actually cheating on him) Jealousy, turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis But it's just the price I pay Destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes Cause I'm Mr Brightside (This could also mean one of two things. 1: He's admitting he needs to overcome his paranoia in order to be with this girl and trying to be optimistic. 2: He's deciding to try and move past her affair and strive to fix things, being optimistic despite the circumstances) I never I never I never I never (Him trying to process things, this basically means he would never be unloyal.) |

| Panic! at the Disco – Golden Days Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| I believe the song is about realizing that you can't go back into the past. Brendon is singing about the "golden days" and how he's coming to the realization that he can't go back to them. He denies that they're gone at first, but slowly comes to accept it. | |
