Whitney – Golden Days Lyrics 8 years ago
It's a breakup. He wants it, he might have even initiated it, but the sun is setting on this relationship.

He keeps referencing the Golden Days of the relationship, and how he regrets that they just can't go back to the way things were. He also talks about how the thought of those days were really the only thing keeping them going.

These are the thoughts of a mature and communicative person when going through a breakup. No blaming, no petty fighting, just an odd balance between wondering what you could've done better and the perpetual thought: what a shame. He knows it, all of their friends know it too. Sometimes things just don't work out.

My favorite part is that he understands all of this. He misses the Golden Days, but he also gets to look back on them fondly. Maybe time will pass and these two will find each other again.

Relient K – Mrs. Hippopotamuses’ Lyrics 8 years ago
When Relient K was formed, the members were still in high school in Canton, Ohio.

This song seems to be a recognition of the band's geographical roots, with references to the local cities, bodies of water, and their beloved Cleveland Browns.

I also can feel a recognition of the band's emotional roots too. Leaving high school and facing the world is a big step in everybody's life. I can't imagine trying to make it as a musician during all of that. I'm glad they believed in themselves.

Kings of Leon – Muchacho Lyrics 8 years ago
This song is about appreciating what you've got, and dealing with loss.

Seems like he's got a really solid friend. One that regularly gives up his own comfort in order to make his 'riding partner' happy.

Muchacho is a spanish term referring to a young man, often a servent or companion.

The tone of this song makes it a little more interesting. The down-tempo style and the major seventh harmonies put a sense of stress or possibly even regret in the song. Maybe the protagonist didn't appreciate his Muchacho as much as he should have. Maybe he passed away. It's a little vague, and I like that.

Vince Guaraldi Trio – Christmas Time Is Here Lyrics 9 years ago
Based solely on the lyricism, this song is fairly simple: it is a very optimistic, innocent, and almost naive perspective of the holidays.

However, once paired with Guaraldi's jazzy, downtempo piano playing, as well as the content of the Christmas special, the song takes a very different meaning. This song represents the cynicism that Charlie Brown's character feels throughout the story; whilst he is repeatedly searching for a truer, deeper meaning to Christmas, all of his peers seem only to be focused on attaining material possessions, and don't seem to care about each other that much.

I think that everybody enjoys the holidays, at least a little but. However, I also think that everybody can't help but feel a little cynical, a little doubtful, or even a little depressed at the thought of it. Society is constantly pressured to indulge in the physical, monetary, materialistic intoxicants of our world in order to be considered in the Christmas spirit, when in reality, the greatest gift one can ever give is love and acceptance to their fellow man. I would certainly hope that kind of behavior isn't confined to just one day in December.
