The first time I heard this song, I thought of an aging jazz or blues musician, probably African American, whom EJ or BT looked up to. This Jazzman might have been a bit of a character in his youth, may have done a little drug running, or been involved in moonshining, now he is suffering from ailing health, eyesight, is itinerant or transient. The song may have been written about a bygone era, when prohibition was still in effect in the U.S. BT could be alluding to the fact that this old jazz or blues man, has difficulty adapting to a more modern world. I don't know that BT or EJ were referring or alluding to drugs or homosexuality in the song, but I guess, as with anything, you could add your own meaning to the lyrics. |
