Toots And The Maytals – Pomp And Pride Lyrics 7 years ago
After reading and listening to live versions, here's my take, which I tried to put into the main lyric field, but it doesn't seem to stick.

Everybody just
Cryin' out (cryin' out)
Come down (come down)
off your pomps and your pride.
Come down (come down)
Come down (come down)
Off your pomps and pride.
Everybody just
Cryin' out (cryin' out)
Come down (come down)
off your pomps and pride.
Easily an' a happily, nicely an' come down
off your pomps and pride
For today, today, today is a happy day
For tonight tonight, can be a better night!

Do re mi fah so la te do...
Everybody's just cryin' cryin'
Sighing sighing
Dying to see the light.
And when they see it, they say it not bright.
Can this be right?
Everybody just
Come down (come down)
Come down (come down)
off your pomps and pride.
Easily an' a happily, nicely, an' come down
Come down
off your pomps and pride.

For today, today, today is a happy day.
For tonight tonight, can be a happy night.
Do re mi fah so la te do...
Everybody's just cryin' cryin'
Sighing sighing
Dying to see the light.
And when they see it, they say it not bright.
Can this be right?
Everybody just
Come down (come down)
Come down (come down)
off your pomps and pride
Easily an' a happily, nicely, an' come down
Come down
off your pomps and pride.

Thank you for clarifying this. On so many sites, an early interpretation of the lyrics is obviously copied and pasted. Rather than "Have your pomps and pride" it is "Come down off your pomps and pride".

Bob Marley and the Wailers – The Heathen Lyrics 7 years ago
I agree that "Heathen back dey pon de wall" literally means "The heathens are back there on the wall" and I think they're speaking allegorically about a battle, like in biblical times, where the enemy is climbing onto the wall bordering the city and they're trying to get in. I also like the interpretation about election posters, though. That's another good analogy. I also appreciate the comments by Eulizon April 12, 2014 about the internal battle that we all fight.

Too true! I knew that was one of those all-too-common misinterpretations of the Patois and accent.

Bob Marley and the Wailers – Mr. Brown Lyrics 8 years ago
This is probably my most favorite song. There's an article in the Jamaica Gleaner of May 26, 2011 that refers to the 1970s commotion.

I've always felt "Mr. Brown" was an allegory for heroin too, or hard drugs in general, and how they bring death. I also felt that Mr. Brown represented the devil.

Bob Marley and the Wailers – Who The Cap Fit Lyrics 8 years ago
I was always curious about the lyrics about the fowl. I thought I might find an answer here, but I actually found an explanation on a site with Jamaican folk sayings. Here are two examples.
http://www.my-island-jamaica.com/jamaican_sayings.html
http://jamaicanpatwah.com/b/jamaican-proverbs-and-sayings#.WIlNf1MrKpp
The latter explains as follows.
“Mi throw mi corn but me neva call no fowl"
English Translation:
I threw my corn but I didn’t call any fowl
Definition
In short this means, you are who you show yourself to be, not who you say you are.

In my experience, the saying "who the cap fit, let them wear it" was similar, as someone above already stated, to "If the shoe fits, wear it." I always took the meaning to be as follows. If you describe something and it fits certain people, then you don't apologize for the fact that it describes them. For instance, you might say, "Some people around here are being lazy." Someone might respond, "Are you talking about me?" and you might reply "Well, if the shoe fits..."

I find old expressions to be fascinating.

I'm looking for clarification on the missing lyrics too. To me, the part about the tree sounds like "Over by Sycamore tree, saw the free country. Jah will settle the score. Oh children weep no more." I've been loving Bob's music for 35 years and can't learn enough about it.
