An excellent song talking the wisdom of someone very dear to the speaker and about how much they miss them. This person taught the speak some very profound things, often comparing humans to stars (which was a theme in Fireworks) in how our legacy's carry on after our death like a star"s light (possibly indicating how our light is actually our legacy). This very wise person explained the "infinite" of the universe during their last moments and just how "rare and beautiful it is" that life even exists and that we are here to experience it. These statements truly touched the speaker and stayed with him/her long after the wise person died. The speaker wants to hear the words once more. They want to be told that the universe was made to he seen by their eyes; that the universe was there for them (essentially telling them that they are valuable and special). The speaker regrets not having these words of wisdom written down, but couldn't figure out how to do so in the respect of how profound they were. It was hars for them to find the words. So, on their death bed, much like the wise person, the speaker will tell others the same wise things thry heard, continuing the legacy of the wise person and themselves, making both of them (and possibly other wise people before the wise one in the song that taught the wise one what they knew) esssentially infinite, just like how the wise one said they were. This could teach someone else and the cycle of this teaching of wisdom will continue. A truly touching message, in my opinion. |

An interesting song about perseverence, not letting the world bog us down, and moving on from bad events. Not only that, but it speaks about how fiction plays a part in how we handle and percieve pain and the harsh realities of the world. He's speaks about how in the darkest of times, light can truly be seen, valued, and appreciated- a reason why hard times aren't so bad. When hope seems to be lost in the darkest of moments, our hope is restored at the very end, implying that should we wait long enough, the our hope should come back because thing will eventually turn our way and be good. Like dust, as it was stated, we are able to settle into our situations, no matter how bad they may seem. Many of us give up when we've had enough of life's fortunes, in fact many in our "family tree" does so. Lastly, it is stated that reality is always harsher and "heavier" than any work of fiction; but despite this, when we look at a book, movie, or the like and veiw the events of them, the "gravity" of reality is temporarily lifted and allows for us build our strength and courage, allowing us to carry in with our lives and let go of our worries and "shadows" afterwards. Loved the song. Truly intelligent take on how fictitious works affect us. |

| A good song about heart-break and pain, saying how numb and distant people can be after being hurt. My one question is what does he meant by "All I want is to flip a switch. Before something breaks that cannot be fixed?" Is he implying suicide or just fliping a switch and feeling again? I am not too sure. Beyond that, the meaning is pretty straight forward. Clever title, I will add. Loved it as it made my heart sink and made me think about pain in general. Truly another fantastic by Sleeping at Last. | |
