This song is deeper than you might think. It has a continuation, or part 2: Switch 625 (the bass at the end carries into Switch 625; it's actually pretty nice). I would say that this song is about, yes, a heartbreak. But not just any heartbreak. It's about the girl to whom he lost his virginity. Their song Switch 625, this song's 'part 2', is about the singer losing his virginity. This was the first girl to whom he'd grown close enough to bang; when she left him, it probably hurt like a bullet to the chest. The lyric "You had the best of me" could mean that she made him happier than he'd ever been; she brought out the best in him. Having someone like that leave you hurts, A LOT. |

This song could be about a guy who has been hurt greatly in his past, and has been left in "the cold" (Take me in from the cold). He wants to love this girl, and he wants her to love him. He's been soured to love, and she is changing that; he likes that, as he wants to love (Gimme something to hold). |

This song, as I see it, must be about a girl who is flat out amazing; a girl who every guy wants. The singer is saying "she's mine", pretty much meaning "back off".
This could also be interpreted as him bragging about his girl, and saying "she's mine", meaning 'she chose me'. |

I've always interpreted this as someone looking at their life and seeing how bad it is. Something is ruining their life. Their life is burning up, like a sun made of paper. |
