The Tower image is borrowed from the Biblical Tower of Babel, and works in counterpoint to the confusion wrought by the latter.
This song really takes off with a social commentary: "Now, you can say that I've grown bitter but of this you may be sure: / The rich have got their channels in the bedrooms of the poor." Slumming, yes; and the economics of rape culture too, perhaps. |
