I feel like this song is about an addiction of some kind (possibly a drug addiction) "I see you in a western sky/come and take your shape out in the stars" I feel like Caleb is talking about how a vulnerable person in the grips of addiction sees their escape in the skies (being high) and that the escape takes its shape in the stars, providing a dark sense of hope for the user. "How did you find me?/up in the shadows picking up my load" Asking how this addiction became, because it is normal to completely lose track of how an addiction started/got so bad, and its always in the darkness picking up the heavy loads life puts on you. "Follow me into the wild with a twisted smile, I can't escape Now I got you by my side, all my life, day after day" I feel this is self explanatory, he's following the addiction into the wild, the unpredictable, with a twisted smile because it is something that hurts so good. He can't escape, its by his side all day every day, no matter what, even after he gets better or dies, it will always have a hold on him. If you have experienced a deep addiction of some kind, you may understand where I'm coming from, but this is just my interpretation. Beautiful song, beautiful album. |
