The person he is singingg about is so delusional it's ridiculous (new head filled up with smoke). But at the same time the relationship, whatever sort it is, is passionate and intense - possibly because of the subjects delusion and inflated ego (You, oh, you are so cool' Scissor shaped across the bed You are red, violent red You hollow out my hungry eyes You hollow out my hungry eyes). It's not that he thinks she's Better than him, but rather that she thinks so. Yet she has her vices and she gives in to them, so obv she's not mother Theresa. He wants to break down her delusions. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the line, "I guess that you believe you are a woman And I am someone else's man" Am I reading this too literally or is it transgender/sexuality issues that caused the relationship to end. Halah is perhaps either a transgender woman or a "lesbian" who went straight. The sudden change in identity is what made her feel betrayed and unable to move on. |

Love this song. Happiness doesn't come from some out of reach object or ideal; it is found within, when you appreciate what you are already blessed with. Apparently it's hard to get an angry person to listen to this. |

| I think it's about the infatuation stage of being "in love", when you put that person on a pedestal, as if they were a star. Because the relationship you were dreaming of doesn't become reality, the obsession festers into a fantasy of who you can only imagine the person in mind truly is, perhaps to the point in which one even begins to ignore reality ("I don't believe you, now I don't hear a word you say"). This can all be understand quite simply by the rational mind, yet the feelings are still overwhelming. Part of you wants to just get rid of all the messy feelings, and part of you wants to give in to the madness full force. | |
