This is a great song and it’s meaning lies somewhere along the lines of the Bush administration. The slogan in the song was read my lips. Bush was talking about not raising taxes, but that’s exactly what he did, and it caused problems for many people. |

I think it has to do with coping with Maynard's looses in his life. Taking the drugs and trying to stop doing them even though it eases the pain. Then in the music video the guy goes to the bar to get drunk. So I think it's about dealing with losing family and friends |
