I think this is about someone you connect with on many levels but for a variety of reasons, it's not real. You know they like you, and you fall into liking parts of them and keeping a flame, though you know you will never really have feelings for them (apple green ice cream can melt in your hand-- i can't.) They tell obvious lies (thomas jefferson) to impress you, but it's flirtatious and you know it. It goes too far because they know exactly what to say to you, they know exactly who you are (counting my feathers as the bells toll). and perhaps you even lose yourself in it (and i even forgot what time it was). Lifelong friends, possibly since childhood, falling into an emotional affair that sours. It never did and never will go anywhere but the trauma repeats in one's head. |
